HOVADUR® casting wheels are employed for producing amorphous metals.
Amorphous metals are a group of alloys which - contrary to usual alloys – do not show crystalline structure, but an amorphous, disordered structure like glass (therefore also called „metallic glasses“). For the production of these metals, the melt is injected on our HOVADUR® casting wheels. The amorphous structure is the result of extremely quick cooling. This makes special demands on the casting wheels, e. g. concerning thermal conductivity, which our HOVADUR® alloys are able to meet. The same procedure applies also for e. g. brazing foil and nano-crystalline foil.
